2006 Woodstock 'The Stocks' Shiraz
Ross Noble at Mt Barker Courier
Clapped in Stocks
In medieval times offenders were often clapped in stocks with legs imprisoned while they were subject to taunts, rotten eggs and various other village amusements of the times. Named after a village near Blenheim in Oxfordshire by original settler Arthur Townsend, the property now is occupied by Scott Collett's Woodstock Wines. His father Doug established the winery in McLaren Flat in 1974. The Woodstock The Stocks Shiraz 2006 is made from single vineyard fruit from century old vines. It's a riot of rich and ripe fruit with explosive full-on flavors of blackberry, dark plum and chocmints, all balanced and well integrated with oak.
