MV Woodstock Very Old Fortified
Ross Noble - The Courier 2011
In the 60s and 70s the late Doug Collett made what then were called tawny ports from old vine McLaren Vale grenache and shiraz. They were fortified with grape spirit and aged in old brandy barrels for at least 23 years. Doug’s son Scott continues the tradition with the MV Woodstock Very Old Fortified. MV means multi vintage via maturation in oak casks for 20 years and more. Red colour has turned tawny but the treat is in the taste. After the nose of toffee and spice comes glorious scorched nuts, coffee and a touch of Turkish delight. Ideal as a digestif with chocolates or a hazelnut tart.
